Tokyo
With its mixture of Ultra-Modern and Old-Japan, Tokyo attracts visitors from all over the world. Japan’s capital is one of the most populous cities of the world with a population of 12.3-million. Its long history of prosperity started with the establishment of the shogunate by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1603. It is now Japan's center for political, economic, cultural, and various other activities as well as the origin for the dissemination of information. Located geographically at about the center of the Japanese archipelago, in the southern part of the Kanto area, and at just 1350 square miles in area, the metropolis occupies only 0.6% of the national land, and is the third smallest of the 47 administrative divisions of the country. Tokyo offers a number of must-see places. The downtown areas include Ginza where all the famous designer shops from around the world stand side by side, Shinjuku - a high-rise complex and its surroundings that never sleep, Asakusa with reminiscences of the traditional Edo era, and Shibuya that starts the fashion trends for young. In addition, there is the computer town of Akihabara and the Tsukiji open-air wholesale food market which is the largest fish market in the world. The traditional performance art of Kabuki, Sumo, world-class restaurants and endless shopping possibilities provide a colorful tint to your stay.
